Dr. Jowett is a Board-certified Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in Boston, and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, specializing in the care of patients with facial paralysis and facial deformity, and facial aging concerns.
Dr. Jowett is fellowship trained in both reconstructive head and neck cancer surgery and facial plastic and cosmetic surgery, giving him a unique skillset to help patients with complex facial reconstructive challenges. He employs a holistic and personalized approach in the care of his patients. Dr. Jowett advocates for enhanced recovery after surgery and opioid sparing techniques to optimize the postoperative course and minimize downtime for his patients. He sources reconstructive and aesthetic innovations from around the world to offer his patients.
His training journey started with undergraduate studies in theoretical physics in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Canada, followed by medical studies at the University of Toronto and surgical residency in Otolaryngolgoy - Head & Neck Surgery at McGill University. Dr. Jowett then travelled overseas to complete two years of fellowship training in head and neck reconstructive surgery at the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf, followed by two additional years of fellowship training in facial reanimation and facial cosmetic surgery as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School.
Before starting private practice, Dr. Jowett served on the full-time academic staff at Mass Eye and Ear and Massachusetts General Hospital between 2016 and 2023. Since 2023, Dr. Jowett has served on the medical staff of Mount Auburn Hosptial, a teaching Hospital of Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Jowett has published extensively in the field of facial reanimation and reconstruction in top rated academic journals including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, British Journal of Ophthalmology, and JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery. He is frequently invited to lecture and teach facial reanimation and reconstruction techniques around the globe, including at leading academic conferences and hospitals in London, Shanghai, Taiwan, Seoul, Hamburg, Riyadh, Singapore, Dubai, Sweden, andJapan. His multi-vector free gracilis muscle transfer technique for facial reanimation has been adopted by surgeons around the globe.
Dr. Jowett is an avid runner, having completed 8 Boston marathons. In his free time, he enjoys reading books and teaching philosophy to his five young children.
